March 2010 Update

I know I have been really bad at updating my blog. I keep Facebook up to date, but some people are not on facebook. So, here is what is happening in the Staman household:

Anah is on Tiny Team in gymnastics and seems to be really enjoying it. Her favorite apparatus is the uneven bars. She just got her pullover and back hipcircle. She is in kindergarten and goes Monday, Wednesday and every other Friday. Grandma takes care of her the other days when Erich is not home. Carter is in preschool and let's just say he keeps life interesting. He is known to us as the "time out king". We were worried for a while that he was going to get kicked out of preschool, but he has turned himself around. Carter's favorite thing to do right now is go to swimming lessons. He is a fish! He is really enjoying learning to swim and he will just jump right in!

Hope all is well with everyone else. I will try to update this more often!

Shopping for shoes....

Carter: Mommy, what are these tags on the back of the shoes?
Me: They are on the shoes so people don't steal them.

So then Carter goes on and tries on a couple more pairs of shoes....

From across the store--

Carter: MOMMY! THESE SHOES DON'T HAVE ONE OF THOSE TAGS! WE CAN STEAL THESE SHOES!

...the things that go thru kids' heads.....

Cottage trip to Mullet Lake

The kids had so much fun up at the cottage....they brought their first fishing poles and Carter got to touch his first fish. We toured the ice cutter that is docked with the Coast Guard. Then they got to go 'zoom zoom' on the new boat. Carter and Anah aren't too fond of going very fast on the boat...maybe next year!

I Will Rise

When I had heard that my Great-Grandma was not looking good, this was one of the first songs I heard on the radio. I think that these lyrics and the song are just so fitting and beautiful. They are a comfort to family and friends during this time of great loss. When I hear this song, I think of my grandma singing praises with the angels....no more sorrow....no more pain...

I Will Rise

There's a peace I've come to know
Though my heart and flesh may fail
There's an anchor for my soulI can say "It is well"
Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead

[Chorus:] And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And riseI will rise

There's a day that's drawing near
When this darkness breaks to light
And the shadows disappear
And my faith shall be my eyes
Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead

[Chorus:] And I will rise
when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise I will rise

And I hear the voice of many angels sing, "Worthy is the Lamb"
And I hear the cry of every longing heart, "Worthy is the Lamb" [x2]

[Chorus:] And I will rise
when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise

I love you Grandma Whittall

My Great-Grandma Whittall past away last week. She was a wonderful lady that everyone loved. She did so much good for this world. The world is a better place because she was in it and taught many people how to love and treat others. She was the cornerstone of our family. I will miss her dearly. Everyday when I look at my daughter and call her by name, I will be reminded of my great-grandmother....Anah May is so much like her, not only in her name, but Anah is very strong and stubborn just as Grandma Whittall was, up to the very end. Now Grandma is singing God's praises in Heaven with our other loved ones that have passed and she will be waiting to see us when it is our time. I love you Grandma!

Erich playing outside with the kids

Erich decided to take the kids out and play in the snow. Here is what he did...
He built a chair out of the snow...A beer chair, with a cup holder. So he sits out there drinking a Bud Light...and his beer doesn't get warm he says!
